It is highly important to have the construction of your new home professionally inspected at all of the critical stages of the build process. DKT Building Inspections offers comprehensive Construction Stage Building Inspections to ensure your project is progressing correctly. These critical stages of construction include the Base Stage, Frame Stage, Enclosed Stage, Fixing Stage, and the Practical Completion / Handover Stage. These inspections are ideally done prior to Stage Progress Payments being made. This serves crucial Quality Assurance purposes and ensures that the specific work for each particular stage has been fully and properly completed before you hand over your money. All of our building inspections are personally conducted by Darren Atkinson, a fully licensed and insured Builder and Building Inspector with 30 years of experience in the building industry. We are an independent business, not a franchise division just looking to make money, meaning we take the time to complete a thorough inspection for your peace of mind. DKT Building Inspections provides professional and comprehensive building inspection reports using the latest in computer-based reporting software and iPad technology. Our reports are easy to read and include photographic evidence with colour photos of any building issues or defects found. We also utilize the latest in non-evasive moisture reading technology to ensure a meticulous examination of the property, preventing builders from concealing any damage or poor workmanship.

If you are having your new home built, whether it be a house, townhouse, or unit, it is highly recommended to have a Practical Completion Building Inspection done once the build reaches this final stage. At this point, the build is deemed to be complete, and the final invoice is issued by the Builder. This critical inspection is ideally done prior to handover or settlement to protect your investment. DKT Building Inspections provides a very detailed report outlining crucial items such as the overall quality of finish, any outstanding building defects, instances of poor workmanship, potential safety hazards, and Building Code non-compliances. All of these items are meticulously viewed and assessed in line with the Queensland Building and Construction Commission's (QBCC) Standards and Tolerances Guide and the Building Code of Australia. The comprehensive report is usually forwarded directly to the Builder for action to address any issues and defects found. Furthermore, a Practical Completion Re-Inspection can also be arranged, and is recommended, once the Builder advises that the identified issues have been rectified. This re-inspection checks that there is nothing still outstanding. This complete service gives our clients peace of mind that their new home or investment property meets all relevant criteria and is completely ready for them, or a tenant, to move into.

By engaging our expert building inspection services, you gain valuable insights into your property's condition, preventing buyers from using hidden defects to negotiate a lower price. We can also provide professional advice on what can be done to rectify any issues found, or advise on who is the most appropriate tradesperson to contact for repairs. If you are noticing your home isn't looking quite like it used to, our General Maintenance Building Inspection reports outline any property maintenance issues that could be arising around your home. If left unchecked, minor wear and tear can quickly lead to expensive repair work down the track. This inspection covers a wide range of concerns, including early signs of structural damage, excess moisture problems, and potential safety hazards. A poorly maintained property can lose value quite quickly compared to other properties of a similar age that are well maintained. It makes perfect sense to ensure your most valuable asset remains in top shape. If your home is less than 12 months old, it will still be covered by the Builder's 12-month non-structural warranty. We can provide a detailed report that outlines maintenance issues arising in this initial 12-month period, which can all be taken back to the Builder for them to address under their statutory warranty. This can include, but is not limited to, issues such as settlement cracking, yard drainage problems, doors not latching or binding on the door frame, water leaks, and cracking to plasterboard and cornices. Furthermore, the General Maintenance Building Inspection is a great idea for people who own investment properties and want to ensure their investment is in a suitable condition to ensure continued tenancy and a high rental return.
