We recently used Ipswich & West Moreton Building Services for our pre-purchase building inspection and were really impressed with the whole experience. Steven was our inspector and he was professional, thorough, and took the time to explain everything clearly so we understood exactly what we were buying. The report was detailed and easy to follow. Lisa in the office was also fantastic and super helpful, responsive, and made the whole booking process smooth and stress-free. Potential buyers of our home engaged this company to do a building report. Ipswich and West Morton were critical of some aspects of our roof relating to the mortar bed that they stated needed repairing. We were obviously concerned so engaged a well known reputable Brisbane roofing contractor who have been in operation for over 40 years to resolve the issues in the report. On reading the report, the roofing contractor was very concerned. He said it is clear that on roofing issues their understanding is poor and limited, to the extent that they do not even know the correct terminology for the issues they were trying to describe. The roofing contractor said he sees this almost on a daily basis, from so called building inspectors who call themselves practising builders, who are critical of so called roofing issues, without really having a thorough understanding. He said they are alarmists, who actually do more harm between the Seller and Buyer. It was his opinion that this is an area of the building industry that is in need of real reform. The roofing contractor examined the roof and reported that no work is necessary. He said he is happy to do the work but would be wasting our money. He did however recommend that the roof may need repointing in 5-10 years time. How can you have such polar opposite opinions. A specialist who does this day in and day out for a living is probably better placed to make that professional call. Buyers be weary of using this company. They will alarm and cause unnecessary angst. Stay well clear.
